Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if counseling is actually right for me right now?

Counseling is worth considering if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or stretched thin and it’s starting to impact your life. This might show up in your career, relationships, family, or friendships—and often affects your health too, like poor sleep, low energy, constant overthinking, or shutting down. If something isn’t working the way it used to, that’s usually enough reason to explore support.

2. What kinds of issues do you typically help men work through?

I support men navigating the pressures and challenges that come with being an adult male. At the foundation, this work is about having a space where you can be honest, real, and reflective about what you’re dealing with. That can include relationships, personal growth, health, career shifts, family dynamics, rebuilding community, parenting stress, dating, overthinking, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

3. What does working with you actually look like week to week?

We start by getting clear on a few core areas: where you’ve been (what you’ve survived and accomplished), where you’re headed (your vision), what keeps you aligned with that vision (your values), and what pulls you out of alignment (the noise). From there, the work is about steadily clearing out that noise so you can feel grounded, focused, and oriented again.

4. Is this more practical and grounded, or more reflective and exploratory?

It’s both. Reflection helps us understand what’s happening. Exploration helps us see where it came from and how it’s been useful or protective. The practical side is where we apply that understanding in real time—how it shows up in your daily life, what needs balance, and what actions help restore it. The goal is insight and movement, not just talking.

5. How do I know if I’m making progress, not just talking?

We do regular check-ins around the three-, six-, and nine-month marks to assess progress. Along the way, I’ll also point out changes and growth as they show up so you can reflect on them yourself. This keeps the work from turning into venting-only sessions and helps you stay oriented toward real change.

6. What if I don’t know exactly what’s wrong—I just know something isn’t working?

That awareness is already a strong starting point. Not knowing the exact issue doesn’t mean you’re stuck. Often, what’s “wrong” shows up as a sense of dis-ease—your system isn’t working naturally. We pay attention to the symptoms, because they usually tell us what needs care and adjustment.

7. How do you work with men who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or burned out?

I help men slow things down, clear mental overload, and reconnect with what actually matters to the life they’re building. This often includes quieting overactive thoughts, shedding old mental patterns or behaviors that no longer serve them, and re-engaging with habits and activities that support their health and stability.

8. What role do values, purpose, or identity play in the work?

Purpose gives direction. Values act as boundaries that keep the work aligned with your vision. Identity is a reference point—who you’ve been, who you’re becoming, and how close you are to living in alignment with that truth. The clearer and more honest this becomes, the more complete the work feels.

9. How long do men typically work with you, and what determines that?

Many men work with me for six to nine months to get grounded and back on track. After that, some choose to continue with less frequent sessions for ongoing support and accountability. The pace and length depend on your goals, your life circumstances, and what feels supportive rather than burdensome.

10. What’s the difference between working with you and just handling things on my own?

Most men have been taught to handle things alone. But men tend to do better with grounded support—especially from someone outside their immediate circle of work, family, or relationships. Counseling offers clean perspective, honest reflection, and a form of brotherhood that isn’t emotionally or situationally entangled.
